AS112 Server

AS112 Server serves IN-ADDR.ARPA zones for RFC1918 such as 10.IN-ADDR.ARPA, 16.172.IN-ADDR.ARPA through 31.172.IN-ADDR.ARPA, and 168.192.IN-ADDR.ARPA. It also serves IN-ADDR.ARPA zone for IPv4 link-local address, 254.169.IN-ADDR.ARPA, which is currently described in an Internet-Draft.

There are currently four server systems running in the Internet and share the single IP prefix (192.175.48.0/24. Your query to the AS112 server is routed via one of the nearest servers (in terms of the BGP route selection) in a way described in RFC3258. See AS112 Web Page for detail. If you'd like to know which particular server will serve your query, use the following command:

dig @prisoner.iana.org hostname.as112.net any

The AS112 Server operated by WIDE Project is located in Osaka and connected to NSPIXP-3 and JPNAP Osaka. Connection to JPIX Osaka is planned as well. Two servers (primary and a hot stand-by box) are connected to the Internet via a router.

Sending queries to the AS112 server is not a good idea. If you are a NAT designer or a NAT operator, please configure your NAT boxes so that they not only convert the IP addresses (and checksum) but also the check the contents. Any DNS queries regarding RFC1918-address inverse tree should be discarded or directed to your local DNS servers. Sending DNS Dynamic Update to the AS112 server is worse. Please configure your environment correctly not to send Dynamic Update. Worst thing is to try to exchange your TKEY with the AS112 server using TCP. Please stop this as soon as possible.
